Moodle Quiz Question Bank

Dear Moodle Users,

We have adjusted the Moodle settings to allow users to share quiz questions with others again. In order to share questions, you would need to use the arrows, located to the right of your question category, to move the category from your personal area (either course level or module level) to one of the bottom areas (system or course category) on the quiz category page. CAUTION!: Please do not move any quiz categories that are not your own out of either the course category or system level of shared questions because this would make them no longer available to the creator of those questions. Currently Moodle provides no way to limit this.

Moodle Shared Quiz Questions Available Again

Dear Moodle Users:

Although the upgrade to Moodle 1.9 was rough, it is currently functional and stable. You may notice some minor interface changes and a complete rework of gradebook. Please take some time to review the following documents if you use gradebook within Moodle.

TeacherTECH Technology Tools Series: Comprehensive Moodle Training for Educators: A Six Part Series Beginning April 15, 2008

invited to attend our Comprehensive Moodle Training for Educators workshop series taking place
six consecutive Tuesdays beginning April 15, 2008.

What is Moodle?
Moodle is an open source learning management system (LMS) used to augment traditional face-to-
face courses and also deliver content in online courses. Moodle is a web-based, software package
designed using sound pedagogical principles to help educators create effective online, constructivist,
learning communities. Moodle is currently used by more than 1,000 teachers and thousands of students in
San Diego area schools.

How does the use of Moodle benefit teaching and learning?
Moodle is designed around a professional learning community, it allows teachers to act as facilitators of learning
and to provide a framework for face-to-face and online interaction that may take place both in and out of the classroom.
Through this framework, the students and teachers will be able to experience collaborative online interaction where ideas
can be shared and a consensus to understanding can be constructed in online activities, discussions, and interactions.

Moodle also provides teachers with a means to create differentiated learning opportunities for students, where online discussion
and collaboration can go on apart from other groups as needed, thereby allowing for a more individualized approach to student learning.

Who Should Attend:
K-14 Teachers,and Administrators. Not only can Moodle be used in a classroom environment with students of all ages, but as a
tool to build an online professional learning community at your school site, central office department, or with whomever you
collaborate and/or support.

Week 1 – Moodle Overview and Course Setup
We will cover the following: Teacher login; Moodle Hands On Overview; Course Setup; Student login; Enrolling students; Moodle Tutorials

Week 2 - Providing Resources for Students
This session will provide teachers with the tools to teach students to access resources and information online within the teacher’s
Moodle course. We will cover the following: Blocks; Resources; Glossary

Week 3 - Discussion and Assignments
Learn the tools and implementation strategies to have students participate and collaborate in online discussions and be able to complete
assignments online through typing text or uploading files. We will cover the following: Assignment; Chat; Forum

Week 4 - Data Collection Asking Questions and Data Driven Decision Making
Learn the tools and know how to construct online, self-graded quizzes and collect data to help drive your instruction. We will cover the
following: Choice; Quiz

Week 5 - Online Content Delivery, Peer Assessment and Collaboration
We will focus on three tools that allow teachers to construct self-guided online content delivery, allow peers to review each other’s work
online, and provide a means for students to collaborate. We will cover the following: Lesson; Wiki; Workshop

Week 6 - Moodle Site Finishing Touches and Completion
Professional Development Credit is available via UCSD Extension for $55.00 per unit. This is a two quarter unit course.
It is also available through the SDUSD Discover Program. Please see the workshop application for details.

San Diego Unified School District.

Prerequisites
-Must be a current K-14 educator
-Attendance each week is required. as lessons are cumulative.

Registration fee is $85.00. Space is limited. Registration deadline is April 9, 2008.
