If you have ever used Blackboard or WebCT at a college or university, then you have used something very similar to Moodle.  It is a way for students and teachers and occasionally parents to interact electronically.

All that you need in order to begin to use Moodle is a computer with internet access.  You can view courses that are open for guest access even if you don't yet have a Moodle account.  In order to participate in a course or create a course, you will need to have an account with SDUSD.  To access SDUSDs Moodle courses, you would need to go to moodle.sandi.net.
