The i21 teacher multimedia laptop is the presentation station computer. In addition, the tablet PC is like carrying around a mini Promethean board. Teachers can practice their Promethean skills anywhere by using the tablet PC and stylus and transferring these same skills directly with students using the Promethean board.

ab+2 AdjustableInteractive Whiteboard and Short-Throw Video Projector System

Promethean AB+2 Activboard - integrated system with a short- throw video projector mounted on a front wall mount and connected to 95" (diagonal measured) wide screen interactive whiteboard. 78" and 87" diagonal boards are also available depending on classroom layout.

The Activboard and video projector connects to a teacher laptop. This display is the visual hub of the system in that a teacher can display and interact with any application on their laptop or doc cam. System Includes:

  • ActivInspire Software - This is the essential application that can either be used with the Activboard or used as a stand alone program. All teacher Tablet PC's and Student Netbooks have this application installed on their hard drives.
  • ActivExpression Desktop (for grades 3-12) A student response system utilizing virtual software built into the student Netbooks

Custom Bretford 48 i21 Presentation Station
The presentation station is the digital hub that houses the teacher tablet PC and document camera. All the switching controls are located here. This mobile table is just not any table and it's custom design features are critical to the integrated use of the entire i21 system.

a. Custom Bretford 48" x 24" Adjustable Sit/Stand Mobile Table (D&D Security Part# DDP3570CS)- This custom table was specifically designed for the San Diego Unified i21 classroom and Samsung 850/860 series doc cams utilizing years of research in the classroom through direct teacher feedback.

Samsung 860 Document Camera
d. Samsung 860 Document Camera is the plug-in center of the presentation station as both the video projector and teacher laptop are connected into the doc cam VGA ports. Using the controls on the document camera, the teacher can easily switch back and forth from the document camera to the computer. The document camera also functions as a digital still camera and now, video camera with audio and video recording.

a. The LightSpeed 850ir is a wireless microphone system that evenly distributes the teacher's voice and throughout the classroom. In over 20 years of research in the area of Classroom Audio Technology (CAT), studies have demonstrated improvements with student academic performance and a reduction of teacher vocal stress over a school year. The system includes: Amplifier, two wireless mics, one for teacher and one for students to share, infrared sensor mounted on wall and four ceiling or wall speakers depending on the type of ceiling in classroom.

Higher Ground Protective CaseStudent Netbooks: A Personal Learning Device (PLD) = 1 per Student

3rd - 12th grade student-centric use of a mobile laptop with content creation and collaboration tools connected to a managed District network and services for optimizing student learning.
Non 3G Model: 3rd - 5th grade students use a netbook laptop stored in a Bretford Netbook 32 Laptop Cart for daily learning activities across the curriculum at school.Bretford Netbook32 cart

3G Model (wireless broadband access anywhere in San Diego): 6th- 12th grade students will use a District 3G networked netbook with protective case that will go home and back to school in the student's backpack. This first year, secondary schools will begin a Netbook cart program and when schools are ready, will transition to school-home program.
