I can't believe it is November 1st. October went by really fast. The last week of October was very busy. We had a lot of fun at Victoria's Garden. Thank you to all the fabulous parents that drove and chaperoned. The students performed so well in The Fall Show. I was so impressed. Our party was a huge success as well. A big thank you to Mrs. Earner, (Zach's mom) who organized our party. Thank you to all of the parents for your donations and assistance. I really appreciate it. November will be busy as well. I am looking forward to meeting with each of you during parent conference week. Thank you for your continued support and assisstance.

We started guided reading groups. When I read with your child's reading group, I will be sending a book home for your child to read that night. Please have him/her read the book to you and return the book the following day. I have stopped guided reading groups until I am done doing DRA's. This is a reading assessment that I need to complete with each individual student. It is part of the report card which I will be sharing with you at parent conferences. Please encourage your child to write and have him/her sound out the words and not disturb their flow of writing. After he/she has completed their writing, ask them to read it back to you. When they are done reading to you, than you can help him/her correct their spelling. |

I have been teaching for 25 years and 20 of them have been at Benchley. I feel so lucky to be at Benchley because I work with such a talented and dedicated staff. Also, I have met so many families that have truly touched my life. I am married to Bill, who is a marine biologist for the Calif. Dept. of Fish and Game. I have two kids. Katie is a junior at U.C. Davis and Brian is a senior at Grossmont High School. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, walking, going to the beach, and playing with my two dogs, Sam and Max.
