| Music is an important part of our kindergarten program. We sing every day. We also learn sign language to many of our songs. To enrich our music curriculum, we also sing with our music teacher, Miss Borevitz, every other Friday.

Hello parents and students. My name is Denise Gleaves. I've been teaching for 16 years. This is my eighth year at Benchley/Weinberger, and my sixth year at teaching kindergarten. My education includes:
- M.A. in Teaching with Reading Emphasis, National University
- B.A. in Liberal Studies, San Diego State University
- Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, San Diego State University
- Cross Cultural, Language, and Academic Development Certification
I grew up in beautiful Southern California. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My husband is a science teacher, my daughter is in sixth grade, and my son is in third grade. We love camping, surfing, exercising, and being out doors. I also love gardening, cooking, reading, and just being a mom.
I love working at Benchley/Weinberger with such an incredible staff, involved parents, and great students. I especially enjoy teaching kindergarten. It's truly a magical year.
